Objective: Minimize impacts of disasters caused by
hurricanes and flooding through disaster response planning
Criteria: Mitigation Activity begins a minimum of one
month prior to the start of the Atlantic (or particular basin) hurricane
season
Actions: NOAA issues the upcoming hurricane season
outlook. The current climatological conditions are assessed. Planning
and preparation commences with first responders and other actors that
will be involved in the disaster response for the upcoming season.
