Assign Permissions To A User

NOTE: You must have administrative privileges to assign permissions to another user.

  1. Click on Welcome at the upper right of any Siren page and choose Sign In.

    The Siren Sign In portlet is displayed. Sign in using your email address and current password.

  2. Click on Welcome at the upper right of the Siren page and choose Control Panel.

    The Control Panel will be displayed with the message Please select a tool from the left menu.

  3. Choose Users under Portal from the menu on the left side of the page.

    The Users page is displayed.

  4. If the user does not have an account yet you may create one by choosing Add at the top of the page; then choose Users again from the left menu.

    A list of users is displayed in a table.

  5. Locate the user for whom you wish to change permissions, then Press Actions at the far right of the user's information line, and choose Permissions from the menu that is displayed.

    A table of the current roles and permissions is displayed for the user.

  6. Check or uncheck the check boxes corresponding to the roles and permissions, to assign the desired permissions to this user.

  7. Press Submit when you are finished assigning permissions.

Change Your Password

  1. Click on Welcome at the upper right of any Siren page and choose Sign In.

    The Siren Sign In portlet is displayed. Sign in using your email address and current password.

  2. Click on Welcome at the upper right of the Siren page and choose My Account.

    A Control Panel will be displayed showing your current account settings.

  3. Choose Password under User Information on the right side of the page.

    The password change page is displayed.

  4. Type your new password in the Password box, then again in the Enter Again box.

    NOTE: Your password must be at least six characters long, and you cannot reuse any of your seven previous passwords.

  5. If desired, you can change your reminder question and answer.

  6. When you're done, choose the Save button at the bottom right of the page.

Create An Account

  1. Click on Welcome at the upper right of any Siren page and choose Sign In.

    The Siren Sign In portlet is displayed.

  2. Choose Create Account at the bottom.

    The Siren Create Account portlet is displayed.

  3. Enter your name, a screen name, and your email address. Birthday and gender are optional. Your email address must be unique in Siren; that is you cannot have more than one account with your email address and other people may not use your email address.

  4. In the Text Verification box, type the four numbers displayed directly above the text box.

    If you can't read the four numbers, you may leave the box blank to get four new numbers.

  5. Press Save.

    If there are any problems, including if you left the verification text box blank, an error message will be displayed in a pink message box and four new numbers will be displayed. Repeat from step c, correcting the errors.

  6. When all requested information has been entered correctly your new Siren account will be created. You will receive the message in a green text box,
    "Thank you for creating an account. Your password is (new password) and has been sent to (your email address). Please check your inbox and spam folders."
    Note the new password in case you don't receive it in email.

    You sign in using your email address. If you check the Remember Me box you will not need to enter your email address to sign in each time.

    You may sign in immediately, by Selecting Sign In at the bottom. It is recommended you sign in and change your password immediately, by choosing My Account from the Welcome menu, then choosing Password under User Information on the right side of the My Account page (see the section Change Your Password).

  7. The first time you sign on you will be asked for a password reminder question. You may choose the question from the list of questions presented. You may also make up your question by choosing Write My Own Question at the bottom of the list of questions.

    If you choose Write My Own Question, type the question in the box provided. Then type the answer to the question and select Save. You may change the question or answer later at the same place you can change your password.

Maximize A Portlet

  1. Click on the Maximize icon   Max Icon   in the upper right corner of the portlet you want to maximize.

  2. To return the portlet to normal size, click on the Return To Full Page text in the upper right corner of the maximized portlet.
